The technical issues from Dragonflight’s launch have significantly died down compared to the first few hours of the game, but they are still present, and the development team at Blizzard Entertainment is doing its best to fix the problem. Issues such as user interface settings disappearing on a log-in, or players not being able to move their character order in the selection screen – all have played a factor in bogging down an otherwise enjoyable experience, and only half have been addressed so far.

In addition to posting a comprehensive list of notes that explains all the known issues in World of Warcraft, Blizzard also posted its official response on the situation. The team is aware of the unexpected technical issues that sprung up since the opening of the Dragon Isles, and the live operations and server engineering department is working non-stop to ensure a return to a smooth experience for all World of Warcraft players.
Given the history of expansions in World of Warcraft, it was folly to expect a steady release. Even Shadowlands and Battle for Azeroth, two expansions famous for having a successful launch, still ended up with a myriad of issues within the first week. The true success of Dragonflight will not be measured by the days that followed its premiere, but rather the speed with which Blizzard will fix its bugs.
Despite the issues, many fans are having fun in Dragonflight, with Dragonriding across the Dragon Isles being the new obsession for World of Warcraft players. A notable improvement over Shadowlands lies in the game’s writing, as people are also praising the quests and characters of the new expansion, citing Raszageth the Storm-Eater as a much better villain than Zovaal the Jailer, with far clearer goals and a more interesting design. Though players have clashed against her over the course of the Dragon Isles storyline, they will only be allowed a final confrontation on December 12, when the Vault of the Incarnates raid opens its doors.
