According to the job opening, Blizzard is seeking a senior software engineer to “help create vehicles and build vehicle handling features in a robust first-person engine for an unannounced project.” Beyond those details, though, it’s difficult to tell what kind of vehicles will be incorporated into the new game and how they will operate, as the company didn’t even mention whether or not they’re aerial or terrestrial.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that Blizzard’s new title will be a first-person game, with the publisher and developer having just recently forayed into first-person with the fan-favorite and critical darling, Overwatch. Considering the team-based shooter’s success, it seems as if Blizzard is confident to tackle a game with a first-person view once more, but the inclusion of vehicles makes it look like the company is ready to try something new, too.

Speaking of Overwatch, it’s also quite possible that the new title in question could be Blizzard already working on a direct followup to the first-person shooter in order to capitalize on the popularity of the first game. If that’s the case, one way to justify an entirely new sequel for the property so soon would be to add vehicles, as it would fundamentally alter what Overwatch is now, and could also improve upon existing gameplay by making even more unique modes possible than before.

All things considered, there’s no telling when Blizzard will finally pull the curtain off of its forthcoming projects since they’re all still in the works at extremely early stages in development. Then again, fans might be given some teases as to what’s on the way when the company’s annual BlizzCon event rolls around in November of next year.

Blizzard’s new game has yet to officially be announced.
