The polish developer began in 2010, releasing a handful of budget titles for the Nintendo DS, DSi, and mobile platforms. Things changed in 2016 when the team discovered a penchant for survival-horror, and, since then, the studio has stuck entirely to that niche. Observer proved to be an excellent combination of dystopian sci-fi and horror, and The Medium was often compared to the fan-favorite Silent Hill franchise.

Yet, while fans are eagerly awaiting Bloober Team’s interpretation of Silent Hill, there may be more going on behind the scenes. According to a brief interview conducted by GamingBolt, sequels to some of Bloober Team’s recent outings may happen at some point, but it seems as if they’re in the very early planning stages—if development has started at all. As Michalski put it, “if we come up with a good idea on how to make a jump back to the universe of Observer or The Medium, then why not?”

That’s far from steadfast confirmation, but it does suggest that, despite its current workload, Bloober Team is already dabbling in future projects. It also seems as if the developer has reaffirmed its commitment to the horror genre; in late 2022, the studio announced a collaboration with The Outer Worlds publisher Private Division on a yet-to-be-announced survival horror experience.

This could be a huge year for not only Bloober Team, but for horror gaming as a whole. Multiple new Silent Hill projects were announced alongside Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake, the most notable of which being No Code’s Silent Hill Townfall and NeoBards’ Silent Hill f. The titanic survival-horror titles Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space are also set to debut revamped versions in 2023, and intriguing new IPs such as Slitterhead round out what could be remembered as one of the genre’s most climactic periods in quite some time.
