Lilith, aka b0tster, has not rested on their laurels since launching the demake of Bloodborne, which is simply titled “Bloodborne PSX,” and has been working hard to turn the retro-looking game into a racer. A number of recent tweets on their profile shows the work that’s already been done, demonstrating the current mobility of the bike, which is complete with a rattling animation and full engine sounds. There’s even a clip which shows the hunter mowing down enemies in a large open area which is currently being used for testing purposes.

It seems as through progress on it is coming along nicely, despite the developer only recently announcing the Bloodborne kart racer with an amusing teaser trailer. On top of the clips uploaded to Twitter recently, Lilith has also said that the project is at a “crossroads” and that it could end up becoming four different games. At this stage, it’s unclear when the kart racer will be released, but if it’s anything like Bloodborne PSX, it will almost certainly go down well with fans, especially those who love the original Bloodborne.

While FromSoftware recently launched Elden Ring which is doing well in terms of sales and critical reception, there are plenty in the community who have not forgotten about the gothic action RPG from 2015. While the fan-made PSX version does not incorporate the entirety of the original, it was still downloaded 100,000 times in less than 24 hours.

It also shows that demakes are popular among gamers. With modders showing what Resident Evil 4 would look like as a PlayStation title, it seems evident that there is room in the gaming sphere to turn the clocks back a few years or even decades. While the industry continues to strive for new technologies and game development techniques, the opportunity to play a retro-style kart racing game in the Bloodborne universe is one that will likely be a breath of fresh air for some gamers.

Bloodborne is available now on PS4.
