Still, that doesn’t mean that fans and members of the gaming community are losing interest in the game. In fact, an indie game developer recently published a 16 bit Bloodborne “demake” in a style similar to the Legend of Zelda games of old.

As mentioned above, a Bloodborne related property like a sequel or remaster was missing from the PS5 gameplay event. While fans of the Souls franchise did receive some exciting news by way of the Demon Souls remake coming to the PS5, many fans are still hungry for more Bloodborne. Now, one indie game developer has given fans of Bloodborne the chance to experience a portion of the game in a brand new style

Max Mraz, the indie developer behind Ocean’s Heart¸ is the sole developer behind this impressive little Bloodborne-inspired project called Yarntown. Yarntown is essentially a “demake” of the entire Central Yharnam portion of Bloodborne. What makes Yarntown even more appealing is the fact that it’s free for anyone to download and play on the indie game hosting platform, itch.io. While some fans think Bloodborne 2 should leave Yharnam behind, Mraz clearly has a love for Bloodborne’s iconic town.

Players will start Yarntown in Hunter’s Dream, where the original game let players level up their hunter by speaking to the doll. After making their way through the horrors of Central Yharnam, players can even beat the infamous Cleric Beast and Father Gascoigne in a new, 2D style fight that pays homage to the original. While an entire 2D “demake” of Bloodborne would be far too much for just Mraz alone, the idea is certainly very appealing following Yarntown.

Of course, players will only be able to play Yarntown through PC, as it is only available through itch.io. However, this isn’t the first time Bloodborne has been on PC. While the game was never ported to PC, players with PlayStation Now can actually play Bloodborne on PC right now via streaming. While it’s probably not the smoothest way to experience the game, the option is available to those who might need it.

Bloodborne is available now exclusively on PS4.
